What is that shooting RAW all about?

Why does Mamaratzy recommend shooting in Raw?
I am by no means perfect, well at least not all the time! While I have been shooting mainly in manual for over 3 years, I still mess up, especially when I’m photographing those sweet and energetic little ones. I have a tendency to pay attention to them more and forget my settings. I still will get blurry images or bad images altogether. Last and finally not least, I do NOT want the camera to be any more than the tool that captures what *I* want it to capture. I don’t want my camera having any impact in a negative way against my art work. I want to be able to have full control over processing my pictures. Shooting in RAW will most of the time save those key images.
